A pair of 19th century lacquer and hardstone accented scholars cabinets, with two large doors above a shaped apron. The doors are decorated with social scenes, pagodas, and trees. The sides are decorated with birds, fruit, and flower branches. The front border features mother-of-pearl inlay and gilt fretwork. The cabinet sits on square legs with brass
foot protectors. Marked on the inside of one door “Bought in Peking, April 1948”.
